Heavy Duty 24 Inch Gate Valve for Water Oil and Gas Services
The 24 Inch Gate Valve is designed specifically for high flow pipelines, featuring a sturdy steel valve body and reliable sealing to achieve complete cutoff of fluid media in high temperature and high pressure environments.
Heavy Duty 24 Inch Gate Valve for Water Oil and Gas Services
24-Inch Gate Valve is a critical device in oil and gas, municipal water supply, and large industrial pipelines, designed for reliable fluid shut-off. Its large-diameter design meets the demands of high-flow transportation in main pipelines.
Common Materials and Specifications for 24-Inch Gate Valves
The valve body is primarily made of cast iron, ductile iron, carbon steel, or stainless steel (e.g., CF8/CF8M) to handle water, oil, gas, and generally corrosive media. Internal parts such as the gate and stem are typically made of stainless steel or higher-grade alloys, ensuring wear resistance of the sealing surfaces and stem strength. Standard flange connection specifications include ANSI 150#, PN10, etc., making them compatible with a wide range of piping systems.
Connection, Actuation, and Pressure for 24-Inch Gate Valves
This valve size commonly uses flanged connections for ease of installation and sealing. Actuation methods cover manual (handwheel or gear), electric, or pneumatic operation to suit different operational environments and automation needs. Regarding pressure, a 24-inch resilient-seated gate valve for water supply service typically requires a working pressure of 250 psi and must pass a 500 psi hydrostatic test. Specific pressure-temperature ratings must be determined based on relevant standards (e.g., ASME B16.34) and materials.
Features and Application Scenarios of 24-Inch Gate Valves
This valve employs a wedge gate design to achieve bi-directional sealing. Its main feature is low flow resistance; when fully open, fluid flows almost straight through with minimal pressure drop. Gate valves are generally used only in the fully open or fully closed position and are not recommended for throttling.
Municipal Water Supply Systems: Compliant with AWWA C509 standard, a common choice for main pipeline isolation valves.
Oil and Gas Industry: Used in oil and gas transmission pipelines, one of the most widely used valve types in this field.
Large Industrial Facilities: Suitable for fluid transmission lines in industries such as chemical, irrigation, and power.

- Drawing on advanced fluid dynamics analysis, we have refined the wedge angle design of the gate. This helps reduce fluid pressure and velocity within the valve, minimizing deformation of key components, thereby extending valve life from the design source.
- We insist on using materials compliant with ASTM standards and apply high-performance epoxy resin coatings (compliant with ANSI/AWWA C550) to both the internal and external surfaces of the valve body. This coating effectively isolates corrosion, ensuring long-term reliability in harsh underground or humid environments.
- Inferior gate valves may cause internal leakage due to poor sealing or gate deformation, allowing media to pass through even in the closed position. This not only leads to continuous loss of material or energy but can also trigger safety risks and maintenance chaos in critical isolation scenarios. COVALVE valves' exceptional sealing performance ensures absolutely reliable shut-off.
- Avoid Installation Failures and Downtime Caused by Non-Compliant Fasteners: Some manufacturers may use non-compliant or metric bolts, leading to difficult on-site installation, sealing failure, or even leaks. COVALVE strictly adheres to standards such as ANSI. All fasteners are compliant, ensuring smooth installation and secure connections, preventing unnecessary downtime due to low-quality accessory issues.
Maintenance Recommendations for 24-Inch Gate Valves
- Regularly replenish specialized lubricating grease through the grease fittings. The valve must be in the fully closed position during injection to ensure the grease fully fills the seal grooves. Pay attention to controlling injection pressure and volume; pressure that is too low may result in inadequate lubrication, while pressure that is too high may damage sealing components or clog the grease fittings.
- Even if not frequently cycled, it is recommended to periodically operate the valve through its full open and close cycle several times to prevent stem and gate corrosion and seizing. Simultaneously, check the stem packing area for minor leaks, and promptly adjust or replace the packing to maintain cleanliness and lubrication in the stem area.
